Farewell to the Burrinja Cafe:
Help us celebrate 20 years of a well loved venue
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the closure of The Skylark Room at the end of 2018.
The Skylark Room is closing its doors at the end of the year as the venue itself is being remodeled out of existence. Burrinja is renovating the whole bottom floor of the centre, and the cafe is being turned in to an open plan gallery cafe, and will henceforth will be unable to host live music.
This is sad news for the many people that have performed, attended and engaged with music on this stage in this room in its 20 years of service. The cafe has seen many incarnations in its time, and all have made a huge impact on the hills' cultural abundance, diversity and proficiency. It's been a special place for a lot of people in our community.
So, we'd like to invite you all to join us on the 21st December in saying goodbye to the room, the stage, and to celebrate the times we've all spent here. We'll be hosting a free entry public event from 6pm to 11pm on Friday 21st December, with an open stage for anyone who would like to perform on it for the last time. You're welcome to bring your instruments and play a few songs alongside our regulars and supporters. The kitchen and bar will be open, so bring your friends and family and help us celebrate the end of an era. Please spread the word and we hope to see you on Friday 21st December.
