A jaw dropping, crowd pleasing guitar virtuoso, Geoff Achison invokes the spirit of the great blues & soul artists to create his original sound. Geoff began playing music in his father's dance band at the age of 13. He switched to bass at 15 playing mostly jazz but eventually discovering an affinity for American blues music.
Inspired by the likes of Freddie King, Albert King, Buddy Guy, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Jeff Beck, Geoff honed his guitar skills searching for his own unique voice via the blues. By his early 20's he had moved to Melbourne and was hired as lead guitarist with bluesman 'Dutch' Tilders. Through Dutch's influence he also began to develop a keen interest in acoustic blues. After several years and three albums with Dutch's revered 'Blues Club' band Geoff departed to form his own group, 'The Souldiggers'.
With a focus on writing original music that was funkier and more adventurous than the more traditional blues styles, Geoff set his sights high and began travelling internationally. In 1995 he represented the 'Melbourne Blues Appreciation Society' at the 'International Blues Challenge' in Memphis TN and won the 'Albert King Award'.
