Bringing the sweet sounds of Tamworth to The Skylark Room are Australian country singer-songwriters Lyn Bowtell and Rick Hart. Both storytellers of incredible sincerity, Lyn and Rick bolster the true essence of country music - an engaging and truly moving musical experience. Coming off the back of new releases, Lyn Bowtell and Rick Hart are joining together for a special night of music at The Skylark Room on Saturday 10th March.
“She has one of the most amazing voices in this country, I love this beautiful woman and her talent” - Kasey Chambers
Lyn Bowtell is one of Australia’s finest Singer/Songwriters, possessing a powerful, emotional and evocative voice recognised by her peers as one of the best in the business.
Lyn first came to prominence as songwriter and singer for multi award winning Country Pop trio BELLA, since then she has released two critically acclaimed solo albums, ’SECRET SONGS' (WJO) in 2012, and ‘HEART OF SORROW' (Maven/Sony) in 2014.
Lyn’s new release ‘CALLING YOU’ marks a distinct departure in musical style from her roots in alternative/pop country, brimming with the singer's soulful, striking vocals and connecting deeply with raw emotion, highlighting the powerful and sublime voice that turned heads and 4 red chairs on national television in Season 6 of Channel Nine's The Voice Australia 2017.
Now the six time Golden Guitar winner is heading in a new musical direction, with a broader, larger audience ready to follow.
With a voice that floats with soulful warmth and honesty, Rick Hart may break your heart, but will leave you with the hope that it can always mend. A storyteller, whose words and melodies weave through the dynamics and extremes of human emotions and relationships, with delicate and unique insight and observation. A perfect tapestry of melody soaked simplicity and thoughtful, heartfelt imagery.
Hart is a throwback, who up on a diet of his father’s country, rock’n’roll and soul records. With staples such as CCR, Rolling Stones, Merle Haggard, George Jones, Kris Kristofferson and Waylon Jennings echoing through the hallways and leaving their eternal mark.
This multi award winning songwriter (2014 Songwriter of the Year, Australian Songwriters Association awards), delivers songs, often simple in nature, yet endearing in ways that remain with you. Hart can sing the life out of a heartache.
Perhaps the soulful tenderness of Van Morrison against the back drop of a CCR choogle or a Kris Kristofferson tale of heartache hemmed into a countrified Stones’ groove. The likes of Tom Petty, The Band, Merle Haggard, Springsteen and Big Star also providing strong influence. Often complimented by a softer, more reflective skin which he switches to seamlessly.
“Countrified soul” maybe, but to merely stop there would only scratch the surface of his musical landscape and nuances. Not one for pigeon holes, he transcends, yet seamlessly weaves country, folk, soul, blues and rock’n’roll to create a sound all his own.
